Background:

L’Oréal has opened its first ‘shop-in-shop’ in Africa. The store, created with Inter-African Marketing (IAM), is at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Nigeria.

The Abuja airport, serving around three million passengers annually, will now host a premium beauty retail space featuring brands such as YSL, Armani, Lancôme, Prada, Valentino, Mugler, Viktor & Rolf, Ralph Lauren, and Maison Margiela.

Importantly, this is the first time L’Oréal’s dermatology portfolio, including La Roche-Posay, Vichy, and CeraVe, is available in this format in Africa, catering to the growing demand for clinical skincare products in 2025.

Patrick Richmond Utomoibor, L’Oréal Travel Retail Manager for Africa, said the store is designed to give African travelers a top-quality experience, with luxury brands, personalized offers, and help from skilled beauty advisors.

The store’s team of Beauty Advisors will provide consultations to help shoppers with personalized skincare and beauty needs. Utomoibor added, “This project reflects our ambition to shape a future ecosystem for Africa Travel Retail while fostering inclusivity, accessibility, and sustainability across the continent.”

IAM, L’Oréal’s local partner, specializes in luxury beauty distribution across Sub-Saharan Africa and represents a portfolio including Coty, LVMH, Puig, and Chanel. This collaboration strengthens L’Oréal’s presence in Africa’s booming beauty and travel retail market, reinforcing the continent as a key region for growth.
